John Barnett, a Boeing whistleblower who alleged safety concerns at the company's factories and provided testimony in a lawsuit against Boeing, was found dead in his truck after failing to appear for the second part of his testimony. Barnett's lawyers are challenging the notion of suicide and are calling for a thorough investigation, noting that they did not see any indication that Barnett would take his own life. Steve Chancellor, an expert on staged crime scenes, points out that in cases of suicide, the gun only remains in the deceased's hand 25% of the time, suggesting that the discovery of the gun in Barnett's hand may warrant further attention. The police report also mentioned a white piece of paper resembling a note found in plain view on the passenger seat, but its contents have not been disclosed.

SpaceX has unique terms related to stock awards for its employees, including a provision that allows the company to purchase back vested shares within six months after an employee leaves. The company also reserves the right to ban past and present employees from participating in tender offers if they are deemed to have committed "an act of dishonesty against the company" or violated written company policies. Employees often aren't aware of this condition when signing up on the equity incentive plan.

SpaceX, one of the most valuable private companies in the world with a valuation topping $180 billion as of last December, also includes a risk factor related to its CEO and founder, Elon Musk, in a document outlining risks of investing in the company's securities. The document highlights that Musk's actions or public statements could have a positive or negative impact on the market capitalization of SpaceX, and there is a risk that there may never be a public market for the company's common stock, which could affect employees barred from tender events.
